Mashed Potatoes with Cauliflower

Mashed Cauliflower Potatoes

Have I mentioned before that I love mashed potatoes? I absolutely know I have, and am aware that the sentiment is as unique as when people say they love cheese (is it even possible not to love cheese?).

I really do love them. When I was a kid I asked for them every year on my birthday along with whatever else I was loving (mashed potatoes and Stuffed Grapevine Leaves, mashed potatoes and fajitas, mashed potatoes and spaghetti –I have no idea why nobody noticed my culinary prowess from a young age…)

Cream of Mushroom Soup with Wild Rice

This is one of the many recipes filling my freezer to the brim right now. I have actually never filled my own freezer with food, despite having done it for many others, and I have to admit, it’s pretty awesome.

Having a tiny baby has made me a meal preparing ninja. I was always pretty fast but now, I know my time is limited and there are other things that need to get done too, so I am quick and stealth and usually wearing all black (because that’s what colour my sweatpants are).

It was snowing, we were literally the only humans there and as we were driving in, the local radio station was explaining in great detail what not to do (with no mention of what to do) when (not if) you come into contact with a mountain lion.

Vegan Chile Relleno

This may seem very asparagus princess naïve of me, but we’re from BC and are used to the ski resorts that don’t have off seasons, just times when the skiing and mountain biking cross over, the local hikes are so heavily populated that unless you go deep woods, the wildlife usually know how to not put a human between themselves and their babies, and if you pack wrong, you can probably find yourself a touristy hoodie or toque to make up for it.
