Spiced Golden Milk

Serves: 1 cup
- 1 c Nuts (Almonds, Brazils, Hazelnuts, Pumpkin Seeds, Hemp Hearts etc or a blend), soaked overnight then drained and rinsed
- 4 c Water
- ½ c Water
- 1 c Nut Milk
- 1 tsp Fresh Turmeric (1/2 tsp if using dried), grated
- 1 tsp Fresh Ginger, grated
- ¼ tsp Cinnamon
- 1 Star Anise
- 2 Cloves
- Several grind of Black Pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
- Green, Matcha or Rooibos tea bag/blend (optional) (warning, the matcha could turn it Grinch-coloured)
- In a high-powered blender, blend the nuts and water until very smooth (for a minute or so).
- Strain though a fine mesh sieve, nut milk bag or cheesecloth.
- Discard solids or freeze them to add to smoothies.
- in a small sauce pan, bring the water to a boil, add the optional tea, spices and let steep for a few minutes.
- Bring back to a boil, add the nut milk, warm it a little more (it will split if you boil it) and then strain into a mug.
- Top with grated cinnamon to be fancy, and enjoy.
